Why does country music have such dumb lyrics?

Now I’m just going by the lyrics on cmt but It seems like they don’t care how stupid the song is as long as it rhymes! I mean "You stole my happy"… wow, just wow… or "That feeling inside is called satisfied"… satisfied? That’s it… that’s really underwhelming

If you pick apart songs like that, then yeah, the lyrics seem dumb. And yeah, some country songs just have dumb lyrics in general. CMT is like the radio – you find a crapload of bad songs on the radio, but they end up being the ones everybody likes, right? "We give a **** about the drama that your dude bring/I’m just tryin’ to change the color on your mood ring"? "Cruising down 8th street/Off-white Lexus/Driving so slow/(but BK, it’s from Texas!)"? Look at rap music – okay, some rap is good, but if you actually /listen/ to the rapping part, you start hearing some stupid lyrics. All they do is try to make it rhyme. Pop music just has some dumb lyrics in general – "I’m talking pedicure on our toes, toes"? Really, where else you gonna get a pedicure? And that was just so it rhymed. You look into rock music and you can find some stupid lyrics too. There are dumb lyrics in every genre you listen to.

Country has some good music. Carrie Underwood is good for the most part, in my opinion – sure, she has a couple of songs that are, as you put it, "dumb" lyrically, but some of the others make up for it in the most part. Taylor Swift can barely be considered country, and that’s a good thing, because even though she’s all over the radio, she’s not that good. Jewel has some good songs, too; I don’t know as many of hers, but the ones I do know are good. Dig a little bit deeper than the stuff you hear on the radio and you’ll find some good songs.

Oh, and whoever said it’s because the rednecks are used to that – I’m not a redneck, and I like country music. You don’t have to be a "redneck" just to like country.

The terms Redneck and Hillbillies are derogitive terms, and dont apply to Country Music , I read some guy on Just Plain Folks web site bragging about him being a forth generation Redneck, he probably worked in an office and it was his way of day dreaming.

Country Stars these days are Supermaket Owners, and have a team of accountants watching every move they make. sadly it’s all become a “Great Big Sham ” there are a few who can write great songs and perform, but Nashville is full of Crooks ready to rip off naive writers and wannabe stars, Record company’s who hold on to your royalty’s as long as they can earning interest on your money.

It’s like every other profession, going down hill fast through Greed.
