Why does Country Music have to have such stupid “lyrics”?

I was driving today and listened to this Country station ("I wanna drive a mercury") — the music was really cool but the texts are amazingly dumb and not even conservative but often complete nonsense. I don’t think it has to be like that! Should we reclaim country from the idots and bigots?! Or is there already something like that that I just don’t know it?

Actually, that song is good. He wants to buy a mercury to get the attention of the girl he likes… its not stupid its simple.. I listen to about everything.. mostly hip-hop and r&b but I am a huge country fan .. and honestly country is such a great escape from rap.. i mean really.. it doenst have to be about the money and sex and drugs and how many girls someone slept with or how many cars they drive and the measurements on their rims.. it seems stupid because its real.. sit down and really listen to some country songs.. sure some are about dogs and trucks but thats a hell of a lot easier to relate to than some of the other stuff.. and some of the rap stuff is a lot dumber but we’re distracted by the music and bass.. sure you sing along but do you really know what you’re singing along to (im not assuming you listen to rap but that goes for a lot of stuff)…

if you want some good "smart" country songs.. ask for them..
